We are excited about this upcoming year and look forward to working with you to make it the best year possible for our students, teachers, parents and staff.
You are invited to attend a short general meeting of our PTSA on Wednesday, Sept. 3rd at 6pm in the Media Center prior to our monthly Board meeting. At this important meeting, we will vote on approval of the PTSA 2014-15 budget.
Starting in 2015, students will be able to earn credit for a course without spending a set number of hours taking the course in a classroom.
Under the state’s new Credit by Demonstrated Mastery (CDM) option, uniquely qualified students may “test out” or bypass a course if they have already mastered the content.
The program provides another opportunity for students to learn new content, to challenge themselves with the next level of rigor in a subject, and even graduate early. This option is not designed to replace existing accelerated pathways, such as the Academically and Intellectually Gifted (AIG) program at WCPSS.
The CDM option is available to all students in North Carolina under State Board of Education policy SBE-GCS-M-001, Section 13.
Congratulations! Shayla Johnson’s submission, “A Cat and a Dog” from East Garner Middle School has been featured on Green Screen Adventures! GSA is a national children’s series and website that features stories written and illustrated by students in first through eighth grade.

The segment will premiere Saturday, September 13, at 8am Eastern time on MeTV!
